This year had so many highs and lows, but mostly highs. It’s hard to believe a new year is right around the corner, so I wanted to take a look back at what made this one of the best years ever.
Job Change – In January, I made the very difficult decision to leave my job of 19 years, because I desperately needed a change. Within a week of leaving, an opportunity I never dreamed of presented itself, and I was back with the same company in a new part time role. It is my dream job, and I am loving every minute of it. I have the balance and flexibility that I needed and couldn’t be more grateful. I try to never take a minute of it for granted.
Disney – We took our first real family vacation to the most magical place on earth. It was such a wonderful trip, and I hope it’s something Sunnie will remember for the rest of her life.
Homeowners – Although it’s the same house we’ve rented for 7 years, it was a hellish process to finalize and seal the deal. But it was worth all of the headaches to finally sign those papers.
House to Home – Once we knew we were going to stay here, we started making some much needed updates and renovations. I’m so in love with everything we’ve done in the past few months.
Celebrated 9 Years of Marriage – Time flies when you’re having fun! Marriage is hard, but I wouldn’t change a thing. We have our ups and downs like every married couple, but we fight through it and keep getting stronger. I am grateful to my husband who I know loves me deeply and still manages to show me every day, 9 years later.
South Carolina – My parents, Sunnie and I drove to Charleston to visit my brother (who’s in the Air Force) and sister-in-law for the first time since they’ve lived there (6+ years). During our visit we took Sunnie to the beach for her first ocean experience, which she loved, as you can imagine.
Dance – We had our first taste of dance competition season and had a blast with our friends. Now we’ve gone from only one competition routine, to FIVE routines this year. It’s a lot, but Sunnie amazes me with how much she has learned and remembers every week. She knows her routines well, and I can’t wait to see her perform on stage.
First Grade – My baby is 7 years old and has had a lot of firsts this year. First sleepover at a friends house, and first time having a friend sleepover at our house. Her first friend birthday party. First year of real homework. And her first year of having a busy schedule between school and dance several days a week. It was a big adjustment at first, but she’s doing well with all of it. She continues to amaze me every day.
Birthday Fun – Celebrated my husband turning 40 this year by throwing him a party with close friends and family.
Stay the Path – I ran over 700 miles this year. I’m proud of that number – I stayed consistent almost every month and have never lost my love for it. I hope to continue my 5 day a week running schedule in the new year, without any injuries. I also started a support group on Facebook where many friends have come together to support and motivate each other.
Blog Changes – I decided to revamp my blog this year by changing the name and mixing up the content. I wanted to make it more personal and not solely focused on books. It’s working well, and I hope to continue with new, fun content in the future.
70 Books – I can’t forget about the books. Books are the reason I started blogging, and are such an important part of my life. It was a great year of reading, with several books that made a long lasting impression on me. Although 70 books read doesn’t seem like much to some bloggers, that’s a pretty good year for me. Since becoming a mom, my reading time has definitely gone down significantly, so I’m grateful any year that I can surpass the 50 books read mark!
