W… W… W… Wednesday, hosted by Taking on a World of Worlds is a weekly meme showcasing what you just finished reading, what you are currently reading, and what you plan to start reading next. Except I’m changing it up a bit, since I can never plan what I’m reading next (moody reader). Instead I’m going to talk about a book I’ve recently added to my TBR that I’m excited about!

what i recently finished reading

Several friends recommended Long Shot to me when I asked for romance recommendations that wouldn’t make me cringe or roll my eyes while reading (unlike the terrible cover). I did enjoy it and liked the author’s writing style, but it wasn’t a 5-star read for me.

But hallelujah, I finally had a 5-star read with Next Year in Havana!! I was starting to lose faith in my book choices, and especially in books with romance. This book had so much hype last year because it was part of Reese Witherspoon’s book club. I started the audio version, which was a little slow in the beginning, but I ended up loving it so much that I ordered the paperback copy from Amazon. So so good!

Be the Girl was really good for K.A. Tucker’s first attempt at YA Contemporary. It was a quick and enjoyable read with a great message.

 what i’m currently reading

I was a little bored with The Au Pair in the beginning, because I thought I had it figured out already. It started getting better, so I’ve kept listening in the hopes there is some major twist coming.

My library hold for The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle came in pretty quickly – I’m excited to read this one and started it last night (but didn’t get very far).

I always have a book going on my Kindle, and I had started A Ladder to the Sky a few days ago, before my library holds came in. So far I was really enjoying it.

Since I loved Next Year in Havana so much, I’m really excited to read this one!

    1. Long Shot. That was a tough read emotionally. Have you read her Grip series? That one is probably my favorite of hers. It has a free prequel, Flow. You should read that series if you haven’t.
    2. I have both Next Year in Havana and Be the Girl to read, so I’m super pumped you liked them.
    3. I have Evelyn on hold at the library. I’m waiting for an audiobook copy. I can’t wait to hear what you think of it.

I do own the Grip series, just haven’t read them, yet. The emotionally tough parts in the beginning of Long Shot…yeah, I had to skim those parts. It was too much.
I tried the audiobook for Evelyn…I didn’t like the voice of the guy reading it. I’m hoping the physical book is better for me. Still not very far yet to be able to tell.

You made me look forward to Next Year In Havana even more! I’m reading it next month no matter what. And I hope Evelyn Hardcastle will be a good one for you! Have a wonderful week and happy reading.

I have The 7 1/2 Deaths on hold at the library. I look forward to hearing what you think on that one. I’m nervous it won’t live up to the hype for me. I’m currently reading The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren and enjoying it!

I get Clue game vibes from this book (I love that game). It’s a slow start, but I’m pushing through.
I’m so excited to read The Unhoneymooners – I’m glad to know you’re enjoying it!!

Oh so many good books. I have Be the Girl I need to fit in. Next Year in Havana is one I’ve been meaning to check out. I just bought The Au Pair so I hope it picks up for you. I am waiting for A Ladder to the Sky from the library. I have heard such good things.

I loved Chanel Cleeton’s Wild Aces series, but Next Year in Havana didn’t work for me. Glad to hear you enjoyed it, though. I’m curious about Au Pair. Hope it turns out good!
