About the book

Beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover returns with an unforgettable love story between a writer and his unexpected muse.

Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day before her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

My Thoughts

I always expect greatness from a CoHo book, and she has never disappointed me. But what I got with her newest release was epic. All the feelings I crave in a really perfect read, I got while I read this book. To say Colleen topped herself is an understatement – she completely blew me away with this story. Her ability to write a fresh and unique plot every.single.time is impressive, and it’s because of that reason that she continues to be my absolute favorite author.

It’s important for readers to go into this book blindly, so I don’t want to give away any major plot points. There is a perfect blend of love, humor (seriously the witty banter is the best I’ve ever read),  angst, and suspenseful twists that leave you craving more after each chapter, making it unable to put down. My emotions were all over the place, and I had that constant knot in my stomach as I kept reading, knowing something major was going to happen, desperately wanting to find out, yet never wanting it to end!

Just the uniqueness of the story – two people only meeting on the same day every year, with no contact in between? I loved it! And the fact that she incorporated reading references we all know and joke about was pretty brilliant. Once I started reading, everything about the story pulled me in, and I knew immediately this was going to be my favorite CoHo book to date.

Ben was every bit the swoony perfect guy, but not without his own secrets that will draw you in. And Fallon‘s determination to succeed despite everything she’s been through makes it easy to adore her. As they meet up once a year, it’s undeniable that they have an incredible chemistry, but the plan is to wait 5 years to give themselves time to grow up and experience life as one should at their age, with no regrets.

Without a doubt, what I loved most about this book was Ben. His personality, his wit, but most importantly how he made Fallon feel beautiful and that she could do anything. It’s the kind of love and support every woman dreams about, but it was also important to Fallon’s personal development – learning how to accept that she was more than her scars and believing in herself. You always get some sort of important lesson out of Colleen’s stories, and this one was no different.

Signature Colleen Hoover – I don’t know how she continues to outdo herself with every book she writes. Every time I finish one of her books, I’m in awe of her talent. This book felt so realistic, made me laugh and cry, and left me with a giant smile on my face (although sad that it was over).  November 9th was just a random day on the calendar for me, but now it’s a date that will always remind me of this amazing story.

We have bared our deepest, ugliest secrets to one another. Gideon is the mirror that reflects all my flaws … and all the beauty I couldn’t see. He has given me everything. Now, I must prove I can be the rock, the shelter for him that he is for me. Together, we could stand against those who work so viciously to come between us.

But our greatest battle may lie within the very vows that give us strength. Committing to love was only the beginning. Fighting for it will either set us free … or break us apart.

Top Ten Series I Need to Read/Finish

top ten tuesday

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, this week’s topic is 10 finished series I have YET to finish.

I had way more than 10 for this list, so I narrowed it down to 12 – I didn’t want to leave any of these off the list! Some are series that I haven’t even started yet, but I want to, hopefully soon. It’s kind of fitting that this was the topic this week, as I FINALLY started A Discovery of Witches over the weekend. I’ve had this series on my TBR list for way too long, and it comes highly recommended by several friends. I also started Ruthless People, because I was kind of in the mood for a mafia-themed read (which I’ve never read before), and this one seemed to be a favorite of several GR friends.

tttseries

Darkfever / Breakable / A Discovery of Witches / The Bronze Horseman / Daughter of Smoke and Bone / Darkhouse / Lover Eternal / Echoes of Scotland Street / Cinder / Seige and Storm / Ruthless People / Claim Me

Have you read any of these series? What did you think?
