W… W… W… Wednesday, hosted by Taking on a World of Worlds is a weekly meme showcasing what you just finished reading, what you are currently reading, and what you plan to start reading next. Except I’m changing it up a bit, since I can never plan what I’m reading next (moody reader). Instead I’m going to talk about a book I’ve recently added to my TBR that I’m excited about!

what i recently finished reading

The Sun Down Motel was super creepy and really good. This author has become a favorite with her last two books.

I was in the mood for a romance and Kristan Higgins is one of my go-to romance authors. I still have several of her older books I haven’t read, including The Next Best Thing. Despite getting a little frustrated with the characters in the middle of the book, I loved it. One of her best romances.

Audio Books:

I loved the Class Mom books! They were so cute and funny.

My second Stephen King book in two months! It’s a super short book (which I know is not typical for him, lol) and I enjoyed it, especially because it was read by King himself.

what i’m Currently Reading

I’m listening to Dead to Her on Hoopla. This author has been hit or miss for me in the past. I like the narrator but not really loving the story, yet. Hoping for some sort of twist or something to make this worthwhile.

I have the audio book from the library of The Starless Sea and I also own a hard copy. I thought it would be good to go back and forth between the two, since it’s so long. I can tell it’s going to require some serious concentration, and I’m not sure I’m in the mood for it. I only have a few days to decide before it’ll be too late and get returned to the library. I was enjoying the story so far, but may have to revisit it on a later date.

I can’t hold off on reading the new Kristan Higgins book any longer. I was so excited to get a copy from Netgalley, and it’s exactly the type of book I’m in the mood for right now.

I’m always excited for a new Colleen Hoover book! I love this cover!

{Tell Me Something Tuesday} Best of 2019

Tell Me Something Tuesday is hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings and discusses a wide range of topics from books to blogging.

QUESTION:  Best Books of 2019

This post is actually a few weeks late, but I have to share what my favorite books of 2019 were!

I read 177 books, which was a record for me! I have audio books to thank for such a high number. It’s a lot easier for me to listen to a book while I’m running or multitasking around my house.

As usual, it was hard to narrow down my list, even though I didn’t have as many 5-star reads as in previous years. I was definitely pickier about what I gave 5-stars and had a few months where nothing really wowed me. BUT, I still had an awesome reading year despite a few book slumps along the way. And I discovered a lot of new authors this year – I’m looking forward to more of their books in the future. Here are my best of 2019…

FICTION

NONFICTION

AUDIO BOOKS

FAVORITE BOOK OF 2019

This was my first book of 2019 and I knew when I finished that it was going to be my favorite book of the year. An incredible story that stayed with me months later.

what i recently finished reading

I enjoyed Out East, although it was kinda slow at times. This one is on several summer reading guides this year.

I loved Normal People. I wasn’t sure in the beginning, but once I got used to the writing style, I started to enjoy it. It did get a little slower towards the end, but overall a great read.

I’ve had a copy of All the Bright Places forever and decided the only way I’m going to make time for it is by listening to the audio version. A really wonderful (and heartbreaking) YA book with a good message.

what i’m Currently Reading

I loved Megan Miranda‘s last book, The Perfect Stranger. Hoping I like this one just as much.

I’ve been working my way through all the books narrated by Julia Whelan, and The Red Hunter is one of them. I actually have a copy of this one on my Kindle, because I’ve liked this author’s books in the past. But as usual, I didn’t get a chance to read it. So far the audio is really good.

what i have recently added to my tbr

I loved the first two books in this series – can’t wait to read this one!

WWW a day late! I took some personal time off work yesterday so my husband and I could spend the morning at the lake fishing with Sunnie. We had such a fun, relaxing day. It has done nothing but rain in Ohio for weeks, so I’m glad we took advantage of the nice weather yesterday (because it’s back to raining today).

And I hadn’t realized what a good reading week I had until I pulled together this post!

what i recently finished reading

The Unbreakables is going to be one of my top books of 2019. I absolutely loved it.

I was a little disappointed in The Cactus. I listened to the audio version, which was good. I just couldn’t warm up to Susan.

The Friend Zone is getting all the hype lately. I was hesitant to even try it for fear of disappointment. I had issues with some things that happened, but I don’t want to give away any spoilers. It was a much more serious read than I realized when I picked it up, but overall I did enjoy it.

This Is Where I Leave You was an okay audio – I got bored in the middle. I love the Tracers series by Laura Griffin, but this was the first time I listened to one of the books on audio. Her books are fast-paced and fun.

I finally got my Daisy Jones audio hold from the library with it’s all-star cast of narrators. And it was just as good as everyone said. And I cried at the end, just like I did when I read the book. 😀

what i’m Currently Reading

I started off a little unsure about Normal People. The writing style is unique and I didn’t know if it was for me. I’ve pushed through the first few chapters and want to keep going.

I’ve been loving nonfiction audio books lately, and Out East is one of the books on Modern Mrs. Darcy’s Summer Reading Guide. So far it’s okay, just a little slow.

what i have recently added to my tbr

Colleen is one of my favorites. Can’t wait to read this one.
