{Monthly Goals} November 2017

I decided to start something new –  sharing my monthly goals. I’m a list maker and love the feeling of accomplishment when I can cross something off of it.

Happy Halloween! One of my favorite days of the year.

I’m ready to set some new goals for November, but first let’s recap my October goals:

OCTOBER

Personal

Hit 10k steps on my non-running days – FAIL

At least one day a week I didn’t hit my goal, because I’m just tired. But I made up for it the rest of the week by hitting 15k most days.

Read at least one Stephen King book – Sorta DONE

I’m still working on it. I have had no time to read for the past week, so it’s hard to finish reading such a huge book when you don’t have the time. But I do really like it!

Start preparing for Christmas – gift lists and finding deals – DONE

I finished all of Sunnie’s Christmas shopping last week. Now I’m going to focus on other family gifts.

Continue to create new content for blog – DONE (ongoing)

I managed a few new posts and will hopefully keep it going in the future.

Home Sweet Home

Paint the kitchen – FAIL

Hubby and I got a little burnt out after painting the outside of the house and the living room. We just got the new kitchen floor yesterday, so we’re more motivated to get the room painted now.

Find new curtains and rugs for the kitchen – DONE

I’m so excited for my kitchen makeover. Found rugs and curtains on Amazon.

Pack away Sunnie’s summer clothes to make room for winter stuff – FAIL

I honestly forgot all about this, and her dresser drawers are a disaster. I need to carry this goal into November.

Family Time

Take Sunnie to a pumpkin patch – FAIL

Gotta be honest, I’m not a fan of pumpkin patches. We’ve taken Sunnie every year, but $30-40 for a pumpkin and to go on a hay ride isn’t where I want to spend my money. We decided to skip it this year – so it’s actually a WIN for my bank account.

Go see IT movie with my hubby – DONE

Loved it.

Watch Hocus Pocus with Sunnie – DONE

She loved it, and has watched it a few more times since.

Plan hubby’s 40th birthday party – DONE

Party was a success and hubby had fun!

What are some things on your to-do list for November?

{More Fall Fun} Q&A

I saw this fun post, hosted by The Blended Blog, and decided to join in!

  1. Favorite Fall Sweet Treat: My mom’s pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. They are the only pumpkin flavored thing I like.
  2. Red, Yellow, or Green Apples: I’m not a big apple eater, but always red.
  3. Favorite Fall Sport to Play: I’m a runner – I consider it a sport, and I LOVE to run outside in the fall.
  4. Best Drink for Fall: Hot Coffee. All the coffee.
  5. Favorite Fall Activity: Watching football, decorating for Halloween/fall, running outside, having fires.
  6. Must Have Fall Purchase: I’m going #basic and saying boots. I love getting out my boots this time of year.
  7. Pumpkins – Pick your own or store-bought: Store bought, only because I like to decorate my house with them. We plan to take our daughter to a pumpkin patch where she’ll get to pick one out, too.
  8. Real or Fake Pumpkin: Both. I decorate with both and we carve a few closer to Halloween.
  9. Favorite Halloween Costume: Witches. And I’m so excited that my daughter decided she wants to dress up like a witch this year.
  10. College Football or NFL: NFL. Go Steelers!
  11. Fall or Halloween Decor: Halloween. It’s my favorite holiday, so I decorate for it by the end of September and leave it up until the day after Halloween. Then I’ll swap it all out for some fall/Thanksgiving decor.
  12. Raking Leaves or No Leaves to Rake: We have lots of leaves. But we also have a leaf blower, so there’s no need to rake!
  13. Favorite Soup: Italian Wedding Soup
  14. Favorite Fall Candle Scent: Apple Cinnamon
  15. Love or Hate Pumpkin Spice: I’m in the minority – not a fan at all.
  16. Short Booties or Tall Boots: I have a few pairs of tall boots, but my go-to is usually booties.
  17. Favorite Halloween Candy: Not a big candy person, but Reese’s PB Cups or Skittles are what I’d go for.
  18. PSL, Yes or No: Nope
  19. Hayride or Corn Maze: Corn Maze
  20. Favorite Fall TV Show: This Is Us

What are some things on your to-do list for October?

{It’s the most wonderful time of the year…for me}

Happy October! Which to me is the most wonderful month of the year. Like most people, fall is my favorite time of year for many reasons.

Cozy Fires

I love when the temps cool down and we can start using our fireplace again.

Scary Movies

Scary movies are my favorite – and this is my favorite movie of all time. My husband and I have made it a tradition to watch it every year.

Fall Wardrobe

I posted about some of my favorite fall clothing items here. I love getting out my boots. Big comfy sweaters and leggings are a few more of my favorite items to wear this time of year.

Creepy Reads

This is going to be the year I read a Stephen King book. As you can see, I’ve got a few already on my shelf, and his new one is on the way from BOTM. I LOVE reading suspenseful books this time of year. What are some of your favorite creepy reads that you’d recommend?

All the Soup

This is the time of year when I dust off the crock pot and start making soups regularly. Today it’s ham and bean. I also love making Italian Wedding Soup, Pasta Fagioli, and Chicken and Dumplings.

Apple Cinnamon Everything

Despite my love of all things fall, I’m not a lover of pumpkin anything (besides decorating with them). I don’t care for PSL’s, or pumpkin scents. The only pumpkin-flavored thing I like to eat is my mom’s pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. Instead, I’m all about apple cinnamon.

What are some of your favorite things about fall?

{Get in my Closet} Favorite Fall Items

I am so ready for fall. I’m ready for cardigans and jeans and boots. I’m ready for the leaves to turn and for scary movie marathons. I love everything about the season (except pumpkin spice). Because I can’t wait to start wearing my fall-weather clothes (I’ve already swapped out my summer clothes and packed them away – which was a bad move when it’s still 80 degrees in Ohio), I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite fall items.

Distressed Jeggings / Extra Long Duster / Infinity Scarf / Comfy Pullover / Adidas Sneakers

I find almost all of my clothes either at Target or on Amazon. I’ve never once ordered something from Amazon that I didn’t like or wasn’t what I expected – it’s important to read the reviews and make sure the items are true to size.

These jeans or one of my favorite pairs. They are comfortable, have some give, are the perfect color to match everything, and are high-waisted to hide what needs hiding. 😉

I have dusters in every color. And almost every one I have was purchased from Amazon. I love this color for fall, and the material is super soft and lightweight, which is good for warmer fall days.

Black infinity scarves are great, because you can pair them with just about anything.

I just happened to find this pullover/sweater on Amazon and it is one of my favorite clothing purchases. It is lightweight and goes so well with jeans or leggings or yoga pants. I absolutely love it – and it’s ridiculously cheap!

Adidas sneakers – they are so comfortable and go with everything. If only I could wear them to work every day. 😉

Hit me up with some of your favorite items!
