{Weekly Wrap Up} 6-17-16

TGIF! Been a bit of a stressful week, so I’m glad to see the weekend almost here. I’m excited to get out of work early today and get my errands done, clean my house. And also for the pizza and giant glass of wine I’m planning. 😉 Tomorrow night we’re going to the Indians’ game, and I’m really excited about that! Our seats are right behind third base, and we’re supposed to have gorgeous weather.

This is going to be my last blog post for awhile. I’ve decided to take a bit of a break from it. I’m feeling burnt out, so a break will do me good. I don’t know for how long, but I’ll be back at some point.

Have a great weekend!

Another good week. My goal is always at least 30 minutes a day, whether it’s a run or a walk or both. I even worked in some kettlebell exercises one night. Trying to get my arms toned up. I haven’t had a long run in a few weeks, so I’m hoping for one of those over the weekend.

I have been using MyFitnessPal for 2 years at the end of this month. I still don’t feel completely confident in my daily choices to stop using it completely, although I don’t track everything like I used to. I basically use it just to get a rough idea of where I’m at for the day. One of the things I had been noticing was my exercise calories were always WAY high. Which would then make me think I had all these extra calories to EAT ALL THE FOOD. And I didn’t want to keep thinking that way, and find myself eating poorly. I decided to change my settings on MFP from sedentary to active, since I do workout almost daily. It gives me a more accurate number of calories burned and keeps me closer to the number I should be consuming every day. I’m not trying to lose, just maintain, and MFP really helps me stay on track.

I’m a reading slacker this week. Still working on the same book, and it’s not because it’s not good, it’s because I just haven’t had time. Sunnie has been in Safetyvillage at her school every night this week. By the time we get home in the evenings, I’m too tired to read. I’m hoping to catch up on sleep and reading over the weekend. Not a whole lot of plans this weekend, which is nice!

On a completely unrelated note – did anyone see Carrie Underwood’s performance at the CMT Awards this week? I didn’t watch the show, but I’m a big fan of hers and looked up the video the next morning. Just wow. Chills. Watch it here.

It was good pretty good week of steps. I’ve been really tired, so I’m not pushing it too much. I’ve run 6 of the last 7 days, and get a 30 minute walk over my lunch break most days. This week has been really busy, so I haven’t been able to take a lunch break every day.

{Weekly Wrap Up} 6-3-16

Wrapping things up a day late because life has been a little busy the past few days, but in a good way! We started summer hours at work on Fridays where we get to leave at 12:30, so the morning goes really quickly. No complaints here! We spent the afternoon in the pool, then out to dinner with friends afterwards. Today was Sunnie’s big dance recital, and she did so great! Here’s a picture of my sweet girl before we left for the show.

I may have cried before, during, and after her performance. Did I mention I’m an emotional nutcase?! 😉

On a bookish note, I have to mention that I finished TWO amazing books this week. Undecided was every bit as wonderful as the hype said it was, and hyped books usually disappoint me. And after reading The Bird and the Sword, I decided to try another Amy Harmon book and picked up Making Faces. It goes down as one of my favorite books of all time. And of course now I’m mad at myself for not reading her books sooner. I had a few others on my Kindle already, but I had a little Amazon shopping spree to get the rest.

The 5k on Memorial Day went better than I could’ve ever imagined! I got a new PR, coming in at 26:57, which beats my fastest time by 22 seconds. I was thrilled! And my hubby was there to cheer me on.

{Weekly Wrap Up} 5-27-16

I’m scheduling this early because I will be off work on Friday, and do not plan on turning on my laptop at all. Hello, 4-day weekend! This week has been a good one. Lots of sunshine and warm weather! Sunnie had her last day of preschool *sob*. Finished a couple great books. For the weekend I’m planning on lots of time outside soaking up the sun. Maybe going out on the boat with my hubby. I have a 5k race on Memorial Day, and we’re having family over for a cookout later that day. Looking forward to a fun weekend!

Had to take it a bit easier this week, because I started feeling pain in my calf. Iced it, which seemed to help. I need to look into some compression socks!

I have a long run planned for Saturday morning, and then a 5k race on Monday morning. I’ve been sticking to low mileage all week so I don’t overdo it.

{Weekly Wrap Up} 5-20-16

It’s been a great week! The race last weekend was a lot of fun. And this week we’re finally seeing some sunshine and warmer temps, thankfully! The highlight of my week was receiving an ARC of Colleen Hoover’s new book It Ends With Us. Of course I immediately started reading it, and it went beyond all expectations. A very powerful and emotional book, I think it’s by far her best. And definitely my Best of 2016.

We have tryouts for next years dance competition team tonight and dance pictures on Sunday. I’m becoming a dance mom. 😉 Sunnie loves it, and I’m glad she’s found an activity she enjoys.

Feeling good and getting back into my routine again. Still trying to build up some endurance after so little cardio for a week, but I’m just happy to be getting in my runs almost every morning.

The 5k on Saturday with my best friend went great! The rain stopped just long enough for our race, and we finished in 29:06! My friend hadn’t finished her training in time and hadn’t even run 3 full miles yet, but she surprised me by kicking ass – it was a lot of fun!
