W… W… W… Wednesday, hosted by Taking on a World of Worlds is a weekly meme showcasing what you just finished reading, what you are currently reading, and what you plan to start reading next. Except I’m changing it up a bit, since I can never plan what I’m reading next (moody reader). Instead I’m going to talk about a book I’ve recently added to my TBR that I’m excited about!

Three weeks since my last WWW post – life has been a little crazy! I’ve been reading, even though it’s more audio books lately, because it’s a lot easier to listen and multitask. 🙂

what i recently finished reading

I look forward to Kristan Higgins‘ new release every year, and this one didn’t disappoint. 5-star read.

I was worried that Wild at Heart wouldn’t live up to the first book, which was my favorite book of 2018. I need not worry – it was fantastic, and I loved every minute.

Audio Books:

The stand out audio book of this group was definitely Open Book by Jessica Simpson. I loved that she narrates the book herself, and I was so engrossed in her story/life that I finished it in a day.

I also really enjoyed Big Lies in a Small Town. Diane Chamberlain is one of my favorites for audio books.

All of the others were okay – mostly 3-star books, except for The Other Mrs., which really disappointed me.

what i’m Currently Reading

Colleen Oakley is an auto-buy author, and so far I’m loving this one.

I’ve been meaning to read Station Eleven for years and decided to try the audio book.

what i have recently added to my tbr

I loved Jennifer Weiner‘s last book, and I’m so excited to have a copy of this one!

what i recently finished reading

The Sun Down Motel was super creepy and really good. This author has become a favorite with her last two books.

I was in the mood for a romance and Kristan Higgins is one of my go-to romance authors. I still have several of her older books I haven’t read, including The Next Best Thing. Despite getting a little frustrated with the characters in the middle of the book, I loved it. One of her best romances.

Audio Books:

I loved the Class Mom books! They were so cute and funny.

My second Stephen King book in two months! It’s a super short book (which I know is not typical for him, lol) and I enjoyed it, especially because it was read by King himself.

what i’m Currently Reading

I’m listening to Dead to Her on Hoopla. This author has been hit or miss for me in the past. I like the narrator but not really loving the story, yet. Hoping for some sort of twist or something to make this worthwhile.

I have the audio book from the library of The Starless Sea and I also own a hard copy. I thought it would be good to go back and forth between the two, since it’s so long. I can tell it’s going to require some serious concentration, and I’m not sure I’m in the mood for it. I only have a few days to decide before it’ll be too late and get returned to the library. I was enjoying the story so far, but may have to revisit it on a later date.

I can’t hold off on reading the new Kristan Higgins book any longer. I was so excited to get a copy from Netgalley, and it’s exactly the type of book I’m in the mood for right now.

what i have recently added to my tbr

I’m always excited for a new Colleen Hoover book! I love this cover!

{Tell Me Something Tuesday} Best of 2019

Tell Me Something Tuesday is hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings and discusses a wide range of topics from books to blogging.

QUESTION:  Best Books of 2019

This post is actually a few weeks late, but I have to share what my favorite books of 2019 were!

I read 177 books, which was a record for me! I have audio books to thank for such a high number. It’s a lot easier for me to listen to a book while I’m running or multitasking around my house.

As usual, it was hard to narrow down my list, even though I didn’t have as many 5-star reads as in previous years. I was definitely pickier about what I gave 5-stars and had a few months where nothing really wowed me. BUT, I still had an awesome reading year despite a few book slumps along the way. And I discovered a lot of new authors this year – I’m looking forward to more of their books in the future. Here are my best of 2019…

FICTION

NONFICTION

AUDIO BOOKS

FAVORITE BOOK OF 2019

This was my first book of 2019 and I knew when I finished that it was going to be my favorite book of the year. An incredible story that stayed with me months later.

QUESTION:  Best Books of 2018

This year it feels like my reading tastes changed drastically. The books I enjoyed the most were heavier reads and not what I would have typically read before. There are a few romances that won my heart, but it seems like I’m getting pickier with that genre, too.

And this is the first year I’ve read 110+ books! I’ve never read that many books in one year, and it was rediscovering a love of audio books that definitely helped.

It was hard to narrow this list down to 10, so I’m going to do it a little differently. I’m going to combine author’s books and count them as one and separate my favorite audio books at the end.

I’m sure these books will be on a lot of favorite lists this year. They are must reads.

I love Taylor Jenkins Reid and this book blew me away. Such a unique and wonderful read.

These two books couldn’t be more different but they are equally perfect.

Amy Harmon never ceases to amaze me with her beautiful writing.

I usually stay away from super long books, but I couldn’t put this one down. A definite must read.

Another fantastic book that I wouldn’t have normally picked up if it weren’t for the recommendation from a friend.

I look forward to Kristan Higgins’ books every year and she hasn’t disappointed me yet!

I discovered a new favorite author this year.

Another new-to-me author that will be on my auto-buy list for the future.

These days there are few authors who can write romance without making me cringe and this duo does a fantastic job. I absolutely loved both of these books.

The two best thrillers I read this year.

Favorite Book of 2018

It’s difficult for me to pick just one book that stands out from the rest. But, if I think back over the past year and which book I remember the most – the one that stayed with me months after I finished – this is the book. With a perfect combination of romance, suspense, friendship and family drama – this book holds a special place in my heart.

Favorite Audio Books

I’m so glad I rediscovered a love for audio books this year. I listened to some really fantastic books, and these were the ones that stood out.

Have you read any of these books? What did you think?

what i recently finished reading

I have no more unread Amy Harmon books, and that makes me a little sad. Infinity + One was wonderful – I loved every minute.

I am so glad I got the audio of The Hate U Give. It was fantastic – made me cry several times (and I don’t think I’ve cried listening to an audio book, yet). Such a good book I think everyone should read.

Verity – just wow. It’s a romantic suspense – very dark and sexy, and there were several cringe-worthy/shocking moments. Colleen slayed with this one. It’s one of her best books hands down. Go read this one!

I used to love Richard Paul Evans books at Christmastime. But the cheese was too strong in this one.

 what i’m currently reading

I just started Hotshot Doc but I’m not feeling it. I may set it aside to try something else.

After listening to a Kate Moretti book a few weeks ago and loving it, I wanted to try another one. So far, so good.

what i have recently added to my tbr

I have loved the last several books by Kristan Higgins – can’t wait to read this one!
