W… W… W… Wednesday, hosted by Taking on a World of Worlds is a weekly meme showcasing what you just finished reading, what you are currently reading, and what you plan to start reading next. Except I’m changing it up a bit, since I can never plan what I’m reading next (moody reader). Instead I’m going to talk about a book I’ve recently added to my TBR that I’m excited about!

This week has been a little crazy, and I didn’t have time to post yesterday. I’m surprised I even finished any books in the past week. If it weren’t for audio books, I wouldn’t get any reading done.

what i recently finished reading

I wanted to like The Last Book Party, but it was just meh.

Laura Griffin is my go-to for romantic suspense, and I really enjoyed Her Deadly Secrets!

I loved The Banker’s Wife and had high hopes for Girls Like Us. Took until about 30% before it started to get interesting, and I had almost given up and returned it to the library. I’m glad I kept listening – I ended up really liking it.

I FINALLY finished The Other’s Gold, and I did enjoy it. It was just a really slow read and had a lot of unnecessary content. I did like how the book was broken up in parts by a big mistake each friend made in their lives. That little bit of suspense is what kept me reading. One mistake was kinda outrageous and definitely shocking. I am kinda wishing I had listened to this one on audio instead.

what i’m Currently Reading

My library copy of After the Flood is due back before all my other books, so I’m going to start it next. Which means The Dearly Beloved is getting set aside again.

Listening to A Nearly Normal Family on Libby, and it’s really good.

I signed up for another free Audible trial and had some credits to use. I really like the narrator for Swimming for Sunlight, but since I own the book, I’ve put it on hold while I listen to several library audio holds, that all came in at the same time. Of course!

what i have recently added to my tbr

I have never read an Ann Patchett book, and I want to try this one.

Outer Order Inner Calm didn’t teach me anything I don’t already practice, but it was still a good listen.

Dear Wife was a surprisingly good suspense on audio. I started it with low expectations, but really enjoyed it.

I adored The Overdue Life of Amy Byler! I actually own this book on my Kindle – I think it was an Amazon First Reads choice one month – but decided to try the Audible version, and I loved it. The narrator was great. I own another of this author’s books on my Kindle – looking forward to reading it in the future.

what i’m Currently Reading

I have book ADD again and have had a hard time settling on one book. I started The Dearly Beloved and couldn’t get into it right away. So then I picked up the new book by Sarah Jio. I wasn’t feeling that one either, so then I started The Other’s Gold, which I am enjoying (thankfully). Once I finish The Other’s Gold, I hope I’ll be in the mood to finish the other two.

I just started listening to The Last Book Party on Libby.

It’s getting a lot of buzz in the book world and on Instagram. Sounds really good!

We got a puppy last week! I just adore him, but he’s a lot of work and completely exhausting. I haven’t had the time or energy to read, and audio books are the only thing working for me right now. Once we get him into a good routine, I’m hoping to be able to sit down and read more than a few minutes at a time (and catch up on sleep, lol).

what i recently finished reading

One Summer in Paris was a disappointment. I love this author’s Christmas-themed books, and I had hoped to love this one just as much. Unfortunately, I wasn’t impressed. SPOILER AHEAD – There is cheating involved and I didn’t like the route the author took with that story line.

I loved Beyond the Point. Most military-themed books that I’ve read feature men, and I loved that this book was about the friendship between three women in the military.

I listened to Things My Son Needs to Know about the World and really liked it. There were some really funny parts that made me laugh out loud.

The First Mistake was great on audio. I didn’t want to stop listening!

what i’m Currently Reading

I liked the last Gretchen Rubin book I listened to, and I love anything that talks about organization. We’ll see if I learn any new tips with this book.

I got a copy of The Dearly Beloved from the library. Just getting to start it today, hopefully.

I don’t listen to many podcasts, because I’m always listening to audio books. But there is one podcast that I love and get a lot of recommendations, which is Sarah’s Book Shelves. Her fall preview podcast mentioned this book as one of her 5 star reads, and I’m dying to get my hands on a copy. I just found out the audio version is read by Julia Whelan, so now I’m torn between buying the book or using my Audible credit for the month. 😀

{Top Ten Tuesday} Books I Need On My Shelf!

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish, and is now being featured on That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is Books I’ve Read That I’d Like In My Personal Library.

I’m fortunate to receive a lot of ARC’s from publishers via Netgalley. They are always in eBook format for my Kindle, and if I end up loving one, I will sometimes buy a physical copy for my shelves. That was the case with The Simple Wild, which was my favorite book of 2018. I’ve also been a better library patron lately, and there is at least one book that I’ve recently read and would love to own.

BOOKS I’VE READ AND WOULD LOVE TO OWN

I have to own all of TJR’s books, and I’m just waiting for Daisy Jones to release in paperback. Or I may buy the UK version – it’s in paperback and prettier than the US version.

I also have to own copies of all of Amy Harmon’s books. I still need to buy the paperback version of What the Wind Knows, and one of my book friends got a signed copy of The First Girl Child for me at Book Bonanza, which I need to pick up from her soon.

Maybe You Should Talk To Someone is a book I got from the library and would love to own.

I own a Kindle copy of The Things We Cannot Say, but I loved it so much that I would love to own a physical copy. I’ll probably wait until I can get it at a bargain price. I’ve had great luck with Abebooks, when a book has been out for awhile.

The same with Us Against You – I will look for it on sale. I already own a paperback copy of Beartown, and I need to own the sequel, just because.

I haven’t even read The Wives yet (I have an ARC on my Kindle), but I always buy Tarryn’s books in paperback. Eventually.

I really liked Sorry I’m Late, I didn’t want to come. It had some boring parts, but was entertaining most of the time and I loved that it was narrated by the author.

Life and Other Inconveniences is going to be one of my top reads of the year. It was everything I hoped it would be.

An Anonymous Girl is one of those books that I wasn’t dying to read, and it’s not getting the best reviews. I put it on audio hold at my library, because one of the narrators is Julia Whelan (my favorite). I ended up loving it!

Foe was just weird. It was a short book (I did the audio version). It was okay – I liked it enough to finish. I had the same feelings for this author’s last book. Maybe I should just give up reading his books.

what i’m Currently Reading

Beyond the Point is really good. Now that I’ve picked it back up, I’m flying through it.

I’ve always love Sarah Morgan‘s holiday-themed books. I’m trying this one on audio and so far it’s enjoyable.

Another book recommended by several bloggers.
