Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon – Wrap Up

I’m sad that it’s over – but it was so much fun participating in the readathon! I had my longest readathon time, and I really wanted to get up early to get a few more hours in – I just couldn’t get myself out of bed this morning!

The Stats

Hours Read: 9

Pages Read: 400

Book Finished: Bountiful by Sarina Bowen (LOVED)

Book Started: One of Us Is Lying by Karen McNamus

I think I probably could’ve stayed up later, had I taken a nap during the day or not gotten up at 5:30 in morning. I managed to stay up until almost 1:00 am before I just couldn’t anymore.

I started off strong in the morning with just a break for breakfast and running a quick errand. I got some reading done on my treadmill during my run, and later Sunnie and I took a walk to break up the day. At some point, I took my reading outside for a bit so we could enjoy the beautiful weather!

The evening had more interruptions, but my 9 pm, I was able to sit down for some solid reading time. My goal was to finish one book, and I did! By the time I called it quits, I was almost halfway through book two. Overall it was a successful day for me. And hey – I even stuck to a TBR list, and I NEVER do that! It’s a small victory, but I’ll take it.

Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon

A few weeks ago I mentioned Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon happening on Saturday, October 21. If you want to join, there’s still time to sign up!

Why I’m Excited

It’s been awhile since I last participated in the readathon.  It seems like every time one was scheduled, I already had plans that I couldn’t get out of. But not this time! For once I have nothing major going on, so I will have time to do all the reading!

The Plan

Normally Saturdays are jam packed with dance, cleaning and grocery shopping. But I’m home tomorrow (it’s also a no school day for my daughter), and I plan to get all the cleaning and shopping done. There is no dance class on Saturday morning, because they have an event that night, which I just have to drop Sunnie off and pick her up.

With no plans all day except running Sunnie to her dance thing – I am going to read, read, read! I’ll be ordering pizza for dinner (because it’s easy and less clean up time). And I’ll be doing my run on the treadmill, because I can read on my Kindle while I run. My husband will be at the lake all day, so very little interruptions. And I plan on having Sunnie participate with me for part of the day, which I know won’t be an issue – she’s all for it!

The Books

Now this is the fun part where I pick the books I want to read, and then most likely change them at the last minute. 😀

One Of Us Is Lying – I need something that is fast-paced and hard to put down. Something that will hold my attention and be quick to read. And I want to read more suspense novels this month.

Bountiful – I will need to break up my reads with something romantic and fun. I love this series and am really excited this book comes out tomorrow. These books are always quick and enjoyable reads.

Sleeping Beauties – I have been working on this book for a week, and plan to just read some chapters here and there throughout the day. I have no hope of actually finishing it soon. 😉

The Goal

I would just love to finish one book. From start to finish. I think the first two books I listed are short enough and will be quick reads, so I should be able to accomplish it. I’m not a very fast reader, so finishing one book in a day is a big deal for me!

My other goal is to have fun. I want to check in with my friends who are also participating. I plan to post updates on my Instagram and Twitter throughout the day, and will post on my blog at the end.

Have you signed up yet? What are you waiting for?!

Well, my no plans on Sunday turned into painting the outside of our house, so I didn’t get much reading done. Oh well – I’m happy that I at least finished one book this week! There’s always the next BoB…

{Bout of Books 20} Day Three-Five

Bout of Books

The past few days were busy ones, with it being the first week of school, and us having plans almost every evening. I was finally able to sit down yesterday and read a solid few hours and finished a book!

Today is going to be a busy Saturday, so unless I sneak in some reading time early this morning, I doubt I’ll have much time. Tomorrow I have no plans, so I’m hoping to spend a few hours reading.

{Bout of Books 20} Day Two

Bout of Books

I managed to carve out a little more reading time last night. Taking a break from the Kristin Hannah book, because I’m in the mood for a romance.
