My friend, Steph, over at Steph The Bookworm, inspired me with her Thankful Thursday posts, which are also linked here. I thought this would be a fun way to share what things are currently giving me joy or that I’m thankful for, especially with all of the negative going on in the world today.
Dance: My daughter has been dancing for the past 3 years, and this year she’s more involved than ever. Watching her doing what she loves gives me so much joy. I’m so thankful for the teachers and the owner of the studio, who believe in my child. She works hard every week – and is part of such a wonderful, inspiring team. Another bonus is all of the friendships with the other dance moms that I’ve gained in the past few years. I feel fortunate to be a part of such a great group of people every week.
Work from Home: I love my job. Back in February I moved into a part time executive administrative assistant role, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m fortunate to work from home several days a week, which has allowed me the time I need to get other things done and makes it so much easier to keep up on day-to-day tasks. It has been a huge blessing, something I’m so grateful for every day.
Gorgeous Fall Days: Having the windows open and getting fresh air in the house, using the fireplace, running outside, the beautiful colors of the season. It all makes me happy.
Football and Fall TV: My husband and I share a love for watching football – one of the few things we watch together (because my nose is usually stuck in a book). We also like watching The Big Bang Theory, Kevin Can Wait, and Modern Family. And I love This is Us and American Housewife. Happy all of our favorite shows are back on TV.
Book Mail: The only thing I subscribe to is Book of the Month. I get excited on the first day of the month to find out what the choices are going to be. Not every month do I love the choices, and I’ve skipped a few months when nothing sounded good to me. This month I had a credit for a free book (I chose Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King), and I loved the sound of one of the October selections (The Dark Lake by Sarah Bailey). I’m excited to read them.
Home Repairs: It’s really satisfying to do your own home renovations, and I love all the changes we’ve been making to our house lately. Before winter we’re hoping to redo some of the kitchen (paint and floors), paint the hallway, and paint Sunnie’s room (she has requested purple). Next spring we plan to tackle our bedroom (there are built-ins that are going to be a bitch to paint) and the outside landscaping.
Date Nights: We are fortunate that my parents want to spend as much time with my daughter as they can (only grandchild). They request frequent sleepovers with her, which allows my husband and I to have a night to ourselves a few times a month. I don’t take it for granted – I realize how lucky we are to get those dates, and I’m really thankful for them. We usually go out to eat and just spend a low key evening at home, but the past few date nights we’ve spent painting/renovating our house. I think tomorrow we are going out to eat and will go see the movie IT. I’m looking forward to the time, no matter what we decide to do.
What are some of the things you’re thankful for this week?
Loving all the different posts you’re doing lately Brandie! You’re inspiring me to try This Is Us which I’m planning on starting Saturday afternoon when my husband heads to the Buckeye game:) I’m in the process of looking at work from home opportunities as well, it would be a perfect fit for me. I’m very thankful this week for being able to walk everyday at my favorite park, it’s just gorgeous in the fall💗
Thanks so much, Renee! I’m having fun with adding new content and switching it up!
Yay – I’m glad you’re starting This Is Us – I hope you like it!
I hope you find a WFH opportunity. It’s such a nice perk, and it seems that a lot of companies are going that way nowadays.
I’ve always thought about doing those book of the month subscription boxes. What fun mail!
Working from home – has to be the best!!!!
Have fun on your date night. I’m still wanting to see IT so badly.
Thanks for linking up with me today!!! Come back any Thursday 😉
Visiting from Thankful Thursday.
My husband and I are enjoying that some of our favorite shows are back on and we’re trying out a couple new ones too. We’ve watched the first 2 “Good Doctor” shows and I think it’s got some real potential.
Hope you have a fun date night.
Thank you! I wanted to try Good Doctor – I thought the kid was good in Bates Motel.
Thanks for stopping by!
YAY, doesn’t it feel GREAT to get some projects done around the house? Our list is forever 100 miles long, but I love crossing stuff off.
I am so glad you’re going to see IT finally. I think you’re going to love it. 🙂
Oh I love American Housewife! It’s so funny. I haven’t found a new show this year yet that I want to watch past the pilot episode. Right now I’m thankful that I have a 4 day weekend!!
Katie Otto is my hero. I love her. 😄
I’m so jealous of your long weekend. We don’t get the holiday off. But I don’t plan on working long tomorrow. Hopefully
I’m glad through your work you’re able to work from home so much, and its so good that you’re enjoying it too! I do love the Autumn too, but I think Winter has to be my favourite season, the build up to Christmas is my favourite time of the year! Like you I’m also thrilled that a lot of my shows have returned, I still haven’t caught up on a few since last week! I hope you have a great date night too!
